LAlbereta Locanda in Franciacorta Lago Iseo - Brescia - Lombardia - Italy
The splendid vineyards of Franciacorta, with the romantic
backdrop of Lake Iseo and the Alps, provide the delightful setting for
this extraordinary country relais and gastronomic retreat, a 19th century
family house converted into a luxury hotel by Carmen Moretti de Rosa.
The Moretti family is well known in the region as producers of some of
Italy's finest sparkling wine and the Bellavista vineyards creep to the
very walls of L'Albereta. The Locanda has retained many of the villa original
features like the frescoes, vaulted ceilings, wood panelling and splendid
parquets.
The hotel is tastefully decorated with a blend of contemporary furnishing
and fine antiques, while the accommodation is distributed between five
buildings; the Villa, Lake & Contadi Castaldi Towers, the Farmhouse
and Casa Leone. Both charming and palatial, guestrooms are individually
decorated and furnished, many with four posted beds and all with parquet
floors and marble bathrooms with jacuzzi baths.
The superb indoor swimming pool has a huge wall window opening up in summer
onto the lush gardens planted with age old trees. The pool area is complemented
by a waterfall, jacuzzi, sauna and fitness room, while the Henri Chenot
Espace Vitalité provides for personal health and beauty treatments.
Further amenities at L'Albereta include a tennis court, fitness room and
a billiard room.
LAlbereta is also a prime gourmet retreat. Run by Gualtiero Marchesi,
the restaurant is one of the few in Italy to boast two Michelin stars
and its elegant dining room provides an exclusive location to savour the
chef's creations. Italy's most celebrated chef, Marchesi closed his restaurant
in Milan and moved to L'Albereta in 1993, where he continues to delight
guests with his creative, award winning cuisine.
L'Albereta also runs the casual Mongolfiera dei Sodi restaurant, a few
minutes away. The wine list at both is eclectic, with a large selection
of Franciacorta own DOC vintages. Wine tasting is organised at Moretti's
Bellavista and Contadi Castaldi cellars, while a small boutique sell wines,
olive oil and balsamic vinegar produced by Terra Moretti vineyards and
farming estates.
L'Albereta is owned and managed by the Terra Moretti holding, who also
operates Franciacorta Golf Club. Designed by American architect Pete Dye
and Marco Croze, the course extends over rolling land surrounded by wooded
hills and vineyards and around a large lake with two island greens. Guests
at L'Albereta will enjoy preferential conditions at Franciacorta and at
the nearby Bergamo L'Albenza, Constantino Rocca homeclub, Gardagolf and
Ca' Degli Ulivi, both on the shores of Lake Garda.
