The Grove Chandlers Cross - Hertfordshire - England
Venue of the WGC - American Express Championship 2006
The Grove nestles amidst 300 acres of idyllic parkland
and woodland just 40 minutes from Central London. AA Hotel of the Year
2005, The Grove combines an unrivalled location with an impressive range
of facilities. The former estate of the Earls of Clarendon in Chandlers
Cross, Hertfordshire, is the setting for a Kyle Phillips championship
golf course while the 18th century Grade II listed mansion has been extended
into a luxury hotel with gourmet dining, state-of-the-art spa and extensive
meeting facilities.
At The Grove, contemporary interiors sit comfortably within the old mansion,
and crisp, sleek design mix with state of the art technology. Exquisite
attention to detail has been paid to sourcing art and commissioning furniture
for the hotel and all guestrooms are lavishly appointed, while enjoying
precious views over the estate, many with their own private terrace or
balcony.
The Grove dining venues range from the classic Colette's to the modern
Glasshouse and the casual The Stables. Colette's has a "country chic"
atmosphere enhanced by the stunning views over the Formal Gardens and
serves a modern British cuisine with cosmopolitan influence. In contrast,
The Glasshouse is a spectacular, two-tier space in the new wing, a cooking
theatre where chefs perform breakfast, lunch and dinner in the open kitchen.
The Stables is set in the original stable block and caters for all day
dining.
The Grove's Sequoia is more than a spa, health club and fitness centre,
it is a sanctuary from reality, an escape from the tensions of everyday
life that was voted Best UK Spa Retreat 2005 by Condé Nast Traveller.
Within the Walled Garden are two tennis courts, croquet lawn and outdoor
swimming pool, while jogging and cycling trails wander around the 300
acre estate. The Grove is for the whole family and children are taken
care of at Anouskas Kids Club. Meetings and events, fashion
shows and product launches can be staged in any of the 23 function rooms,
all equipped with smart wall technology, broadband internet access and
video and satellite conferencing.
For golfers, The Grove's spectacular 18 hole Championship golf course
was designed by renowned Californian architect, Kyle Phillips. His vision
was to create a course embracing the richness and tradition of the great
English designs of the early 20th century, whilst accommodating the strategy
and dimensions of the modern game. Although only three years old, The
Grove will host the World Golf Championships American Express Championship
in 2006, which speaks for itself !
