Carmel Valley Ranch Carmel - Monterey - California - USA
A thoroughbred amongst Californian resorts, Carmel Valley
Ranch spreads over 400 acres of lush wooded grounds in the foothills of
the Santa Lucia mountains, on the southern side of the famous Monterey
Peninsula. Quietly tucked in a picturesque valley minutes away from the
coast, this upscale yet intimate resort offers all-suite accommodation,
a first-class tennis centre and an exquisite Pete Dye championship golf
course.
Accommodation at Carmel Valley Ranch comprises 144 studio, one and two
bedroom suites, each one grouped in homelike clusters on the hillside
of the valley. Warm tones and plush furnishing predominates in the oversized
suites, all boasting wood-burning fireplaces and large bay windows opening
up onto private terraces with inspiring vistas over the mountain, valley
and fairways. Many suites also include an outdoor jacuzzi on the deck
and an extra fireplace in the bedroom.
Carmel Valley offers the best of contemporary Californian cuisine in The
Oaks formal dining room, the casual Ranch House Café and the clubhouse
Club Grill. Menus are prepared with market produce from the Carmel Valley,
freshly caught fish from the Californian coast and herbs from the resort's
own kitchen garden, while the selected wine list has been consistently
honoured by Wine Spectator's "Award For Excellence".
The expansive Tennis Centre features twelve hard and clay courts, including
a sunken centre court bordered by flowering gardens. A Proshop, locker
rooms and private lessons with the resident pro complete the amenities.
The charming clubhouse and its courtside café are set in the estate's
original 1890's ranch house, adding to the charm and elegance of this
premier tennis facility.
Carmel Valley Ranch provides relaxing massages, skin and beauty treatments
in the privacy of your suite while the concierge will gladly arrange activities
and excursions in the Monterey Peninsula area. Trendy Carmel-by-the-Sea,
historic Cannery Row, the Monterey Bay Aquarium and Monterey Peninsula's
famous 17-Mile Drive are just minutes away from the resort.
Pete Dye's only design in the legendary Monterey Peninsula, home to the
world famous Pebble Beach, the golf course at Carmel Valley Ranch extends
across the valley and up the foot hills of Santa Lucia mountains. It is
both visually scenic and technically challenging. The original layout
was completely reshaped by Pete Dye in 1995 to provide a fair yet testing
round, with many large sand bunkers, thick, long rough, several water
hazards and numerous trees in play. The back nine is particularly challenging
with most of the holes built in the hills, requiring uphill and downhill
shots from elevated tees to elevated greens.
Climate
Mid-Atlantic. Mild winters and warm summers. Carmel Valley lies on the
sunniest side of the Monterey Peninsula and enjoys sunshine, even when
the coast is soaked in with fog.

The Monterey Peninsula
The legendary Monterey Peninsula comprises one of the world's most spectacular
shorelines, skirted with cypress trees, rugged shores, and crescent-shaped
bays, home to seals, sea lions, gulls and cormorants.
Monterey is also a golfer paradise, consistently ranked among the world's
number one golf destinations. It is home to some of America's most famous
courses, such as Pebble Beach, The Links at Spanish Bay, Spyglass Hill,
Poppy Hills and Del Monte, founded 1897 and the oldest course west of
the Mississippi.
